This film by Todd Solondz reportedly won Newsweek’s #1 film of 1998. It also won awards at the Cannes and Toronto Film Festivals. It is a jigsaw story of a dysfunctional extended family, and dwells on a variety of sexual perversions in a way that makes you squirm in your seat at the same time you are laughing at it. It is an excellently acted, written and produced film, all of which makes it that much more irksome. |
