The story of
an 11 year old boy on the streets of Sao Paulo in Brazil, this 1981 film
received a great deal of attention in its time. Pixote lives a life of
petty crimes, exploitation and other horrors to survive. The disturbing
thing about this film is it’s stark reality.
It is so real that Fernando DaSalva, who plays the role of Pixote, was shot to death on the streets of Rio some years after the movie. He was never able to get another role as he was unable to read and memorize scripts. |
